Privacy and Security Statement

The City of Arvada uses industry standard practices to safeguard the confidentiality of your personal identifiable information, including ‘firewalls’ and encryption (Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure) technology. We employ many different security techniques to protect such data from unauthorized access. ‘Perfect’ security, however, does not exist on the Internet. Unless a particular web page on the City of Arvada web site indicates that encryption technology is being used, the user should not assume that information submitted through that web page to the City of Arvada web server will be treated as confidential. Visual cues (an unbroken key or locked lock) report to the visitor that the online service is secure through a given web page. If a user submits information to the City of Arvada’s web server through a web page containing visual indicators of active encryption technology, the City of Arvada will take reasonable precautions to safeguard the confidentiality of such information, but shall nevertheless not be held liable for any injury caused by the disclosure of that information, whether caused by security breach, accident, inadvertence, or any other act resulting in disclosure.

Please do not send information via email that you would not want a third party to read. For example, please do not send your Social Security number or credit card information, as it is unlikely this data is needed to respond to your e-mail.

The City may also forward that e-mail to another party, government agency or individual. Certain e-mail may constitute a public record and is subject to disclosure under state law. When you follow a link to another web site, you are subject to the privacy policy of the new site.

If you enter information on the City of Arvada’s web pages where the URL begins with ‘HTTPS,’ that information will be encrypted before being sent to the City, providing a high level of data security and confidentiality.

Communication made through e-mail or any other computer messaging system shall in no way be deemed to constitute legal notice to the City or any of its agencies, officers, employees, agents or representatives with respect to any existing or potential claim or cause of action.

User Sessions

There are places on this website where the visitor may provide us with personal information. This information may come to us through various forms or email subscription lists. In filling out these forms you may be asked for contact information (name, address, telephone number, email address), and demographic information (age, gender, education level, income level, etc.).

As with most other websites, our web servers record the Internet Protocol (IP) address of each visitor. This IP address tells us from which domain you are visiting (for instance aol.com), but not your email address. We use the information to help diagnose problems with our server, to administer the website more effectively and to gather broad demographic information.
